ECLS Young Scholars — A Platform for Exchange and Discussion

As one of the participants to the meeting held in the Swedish town of Mölle in May 2006, and which lead to the birth of the European China Law Studies Association, I am happy to circulate a notice drafted by some of the younger members of the ECLS.

All young scholars, PhD candidates, Master students with an interest in Chinese law may want to get in touch with the ECLS Young Scholars to find out how to contribute to their activities.

Notice

The European China Law Studies Association (ECLS) invites young scholars, PhD candidates, and Master students to play an active part in research on Chinese law and innovative projects in the field.

The ECLS offers academic support and a good network of established scholars. That is why a group of PhD and Master students want to set up a platform that is closely connected to the ECLS’s events and offers young scholars a network for academic exchange.

We are planning to organize an inaugural conference in Oxford in May 2017. All participants will have the opportunity to present and discuss their projects with experienced scholars and peers. We offer feedback and discussions in an informal atmosphere.

In August, all of the inaugural conference’s participants will be invited to attend the ECLS’ annual conference which will be held at Leiden University in August 2017. They are given the opportunity to present their projects in front of internationally renowned scholars.

We plan to organise similar workshops and small conferences on a regular basis to enhance the exchange of ideas and networks.

If you are committed to doing research in Chinese law and interested in participating in discussions and research collaboration in this field, join the ECLS Young Scholars!

About the ECLS

Since its founding in 2006, the European China Law Studies Association (ECLS) has become a major international venue for scholars and practitioners who are engaged in the study of Chinese law, from both comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The Association currently counts about 300 members from all over the world, who are committed to advance the research on Chinese law. The annual conferences of ECLS are leading international academic events for the exchange of information and ideas on Chinese law, as well as platforms for the initiation of research collaboration.

The Young Scholars — A Platform for Exchange and Discussion

The ECLS wants young scholars, PhD candidates, and Master students to play an active part in research about Chinese law and innovative projects in that field. The ECLS offers academic support and a good network of established scholars. That is why a group of PhD and Master students wants to set up a platform that is closely connected to the ECLS events and offers young scholars a network for exchange.

We want to start just this year!
